ABOUT

Michael Marwit – Associate Creative Director,
Graphic Designer & Illustrator

I'm an Associate Creative Director and illustrator with 15 years in healthcare advertising. I specialize in turning complex science into campaigns that move people — from oncology launches to rare disease awareness to long-term patient education programs. I bring strategic thinking, design craft, and regulatory fluency to every engagement, and I'm available for freelance projects, retainers, and interim creative leadership.

AVMAPKI + FAKZYNJA

Low-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer is so rarely diagnosed that many oncologists have never encountered it. When Verastem launched the first FDA-approved oral combination regimen for LGSOC, the challenge wasn't just awareness — it was credibility. I developed a campaign that spoke directly to a patient population that had spent years being misdiagnosed and dismissed, giving them language and imagery to advocate for themselves. The work spans DTC and HCP channels, website design, and patient video production.

AUBAGIO

Aubagio had long been positioned around managing decline — a once-daily pill for patients learning to live with MS. I saw an opportunity to reframe it entirely. By shifting the visual language toward younger female patients and imagery of freedom rather than limitation, I repositioned the brand around reclaiming life rather than containing disease. The campaign drove a 20% increase in client sign-ups and an 8% lift in prescription rates. Work included full campaign photography direction, packaging redesign, social, email, and a Hulu ad.

AD LOBS

MS One to One was an unbranded patient education program built to sit alongside the Aubagio brand — giving newly diagnosed MS patients a trusted, non-promotional space to understand their condition and manage their symptoms. The challenge was creating something warm and human inside a heavily regulated environment. I built a content ecosystem spanning a long-form website, a "Live and Learn" editorial blog, email campaigns, and social — designed to meet patients where they were emotionally, not just informationally.

MS ONE TO ONE

Diabetes self-management programs often fail because they lecture rather than accompany. I designed Steps to Diabetes Goals as a companion — a digital program that walked patients through the practical, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of managing their condition. The illustration system was built to feel warm and achievable rather than clinical, depicting real activities and real moments rather than medical abstractions. The work spans a full digital platform and a library of original illustrations developed specifically for the program.

PATIENT JOURNEYS

Understanding a disease means understanding the person living with it. I developed these patient journey maps to help clinical and marketing teams see the full arc of a patient's experience — from first symptoms through diagnosis, treatment decisions, and ongoing management. They serve as strategic tools as much as design artifacts, anchoring campaign development in real human experience.

MISCELLANEOUS

Outside of client work, I maintain an active illustration and design practice. The Hypochondriac's Abecedarium is an illustrated ABC book for the eternally ill — a personal project that reflects the same curiosity about the body and medicine that informs my healthcare work, but with considerably more dark humor. The Dürer/Chernikhov type studies are an ongoing exploration of letterform and grid, overlaying historical type systems to find new formal relationships.
